Trados 2019 refuses to save files that are checked out, if the connection to Groupshare is down (user receives the error message "The Server is not responding. Please check that the server is available.)
User only have the option to close without saving.. Is this the new expected behavior?
Is there no offline mode anymore with Trados Studio 2019??

I would be good to understand who has checked out the files and why the connection to the server is down.
When the files have been checked out successfully, then there should be a local copy on the translators machine that they can work with, until the connection has been re-established. Then the files should be able to be re-synced and saved.
Was the connection to the server lost during the download of the package maybe- causing a corruption?
Any additional info you can provide would be useful.

The user is a remote user, his Internet connection is currently down.
My understanding is that he was already working on the file when the Internet cut and he wanted to close the file he was editing but he is not able to save and probably worries about losing his edits. What can I tell him?

The problem here is because of the intermittent internet access, then Studio isn't able to sync back online to GS, which is what is most likely the cause of the
This should not however affect the local copy the freelancer will have saved on his local machine.
If the freelancer cannot save- then maybe force close Studio- reopen and then go to the project.
The freelancer should now be able to work on the file.

His Internet connection has been down for over 2 hours now - he just called again and his ISP does not have an ETA for a resolution (what if he stays offline until tomorrow? - and I don't think he has a 4G to hotspot on as he would have done that already)
Again, what can I tell him? This is first time we hear of that problem, previous versions of Trados we were familiar with let users work offline..

This doesn't appear to be an issue with GS- but the fact that the internet connection crashed.
If the translator had already downloaded the files- they can work offline (on the local file) until the connection is restored.
However if the connection crashed during download, the package is probably corrupted and therefore may need a new package sent once the connection is back up and running.

With Studio 2019:
The user gets an error message when hitting Ctrl+S
Studio circa 2015 allows to save files when Groupshare is not accessible.
Studio circa 2019 does not.
We tested to confirm the behavior.
I believe the user should be able to work offline on the local file by first copy-pasting the target .sldxliff file into a different folder and simply opening that file in Trados Studio by double-clicking on it.
Of course that doesn’t solve the problem of initially being unable to save the file in the GroupShare project, but at least the user would be able to re-start and continue working, and once their Internet connexion is back up they can simply replace the .sdlxliff file in their original project folder (first checking-out the file in the GroupShare project - but without opening it in the editor) to sync up the GroupShare project.
