I don't think it's the ame error Steve noted because your projects don't seem to be deleted altogether.  You just have to reopen them.  This points towards you sharing projects with others perhaps?  Or maybe storing them somewhere other than your desktop?  Can you provide more information on the ay you are working and where the projects are stored?

our projects are all individually stored in a client's folder. Each project has it's own Trados folder where the entire Trados project with all it's subfolders is stored. The projects appear and are never deleted in the client folder itself, they only disappear from the list. Re-opening the proj. is no problem at all.

But where are these files stored?  This is the issue.  Studio is a desktop tool and is not designed for sharing projects with others unless you use GroupShare.  So if this is what you are doing (sharing projects with others) there are always rules to follow carefully if you want to avoid problems like this.  In some scenarios it's quite likely that the projects.xml is being rewritten by others for example and then the next time you open Studio you don't see what you saw before.

Jerzy Czopik could give you chapter and verse on working this way as he's been doing it for years... and probably other users could too.  But I think that how you are working with a desktop tool is at the root of your problems.

The project list is unfortunately lost every time Studio does not find a project present in the project list, e.g. in the case of a connection breakdown with an external disk (where the projects are saved). Further to a connection interruption to the external disk,  the last active project list is unfortunately and automatically lost and replaced by Studio by a new "empty" project list. All your efforts to build a workable list of projects (project description, direct access, etc.) are then lost.

 In the previous Studio version (2017), it was possible to reactivate a previous project list by overwriting the "new" empty project list  automatically created by Studio by using a copy of a previous project list previously saved.

 This trick does not work anymore with Studio 2019. Is there a way to re-use previous projects list with Studio 2019 and not lose all your past efforts to create a workable project list?

That is what happens to me every now and then. And it is very annoying.
