Perhaps you need to xplain what you mean by this?  The XML files you attached, if opened with the default XML filetype will not put any tags in here.  Ths means you probably need to use a custom filetype of some sort to extract the tags you're looking for.

What exactly are you expecting to see?

The xref tags in those 2 XML files didn't show up in Trados source & target windows

Translator upload these XML files with alignment memories as followed:

- Select Align Single File Pair

- Select and load File-based Translation Memory. Attached in this email

- Load English Source File. Refer to E_RemTrad_WP022_01.xml

- Load French Target FIle. Refer to F_RemTrad_WP022_01.xml.

- Xref tgs will shows up in source & target windows with these XML files. See 2 snap shots attached in this email.

If you repeat the same action with 2 XML files in the first email. Xref tag didn't show up at all.

The fies you are providing are not the same and this is why sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.  The default XML filetype automatically recognises that the xref tags should be inline in one of them (E_RemTrad_WP022_01.xml), but in the other (WP022_00_TRADOS_EN.xml) they are moved to structure and the text is segmented.

If you create a custom XML filetype for these files and ensure that XREF is marked as an inline element then you'll always get the XREF tags.

Just create a custom XML filetype for your files and set the parser rule for XREF to inline.  Perhaps this will help you:

I check the file type, xref was defined inline. Refer to attached

I add xref after text 2006-01-01 in WP022_00_TRADOS_EN.xml, xref tags show up, but not the xref didn't show after text 2004-06-17.

I wonder the XML are using the right file type.

If you zip your files they'll all be attached in one go.

In your file the XREF tags you added after 2004-06-17 are not inline:

They are structure and Studio will move them out seeing as they are tags and you don't need to do anything with them.  They are just put back in the same place, non-translatable so there is no need to expose them in the editor.

If you want to see them this is possible, like this:

You just have to use the advanced rule and apply a segmentation hint to force Studio to show them anyway:

What are the differences between the files with extension *.sdlfiletype and *.sdlftsettings?

Can i use them both?

the *.sdlfiletype was the old... really old... format for saving custom filetypes.  Today we use sdlftsettings for all custom filetypes and specific configurations made to existing filetypes.

The Studio help actually says you can use an sdlfiletype for import, but I don't think you can.  Certainly it's not offerred for selection anymore.  I tried to force it and just see this:
