Thank you for the video, I actually found it earlier today, it is very interesting and I have now started using this handy feature.

I will still need to import extra tmx  files to my main consolidated memories as I go. So my question remains, are both language pairs added into the target TM (A>B and B>A language pairs) when importing tmx memories into a(n A>B) TM? 

[And if not, if I want this to happen, would it work if added to an AnyTM type translation memory instead? (I'm not sure what exactly IS an anyTM. Can it be considered and used like a regular TM (only double-sided/with language variants), or is it an app feature for reading TMs?]

There is only one language pair and it will be imported to match the language direction of your SDLTM.  So if you have an SDLTM that is en-US -> de-DE for example and you import a TMX that is de-DE -> en-US the TMX will be imported correctly but will no longer be a de-DE -> en-US TM.

This is not an app.  It was originally but has been part of the product for some years.  It basically allows you to add any TM you like... any language direction, any languages even.  It can also read and update bi-directionaly which a normal file-based TM cannot do.  Read this article for more information:
