Hi, nothing is showing up in my TM window. I've so far got a handful of projects on the go and while working on the texts, the relevant TM is active and working fine. I've checked all the TM settings (I'm using the default settings in batch tasks, so creating projects without project TM) and am stumped as to what I'm doing wrong. Any thoughts?

You haven't actually opened a TM in this window. Perhaps you don't realise this is just a location for TM Maintenance activities and it's not the place you'd see your working TM while translating? To see the content of your TM in here you need to open it up first.
You are also minimisng the ribbon so you don't see the easy way to work with this view. Try clicking here to show the ribbon:
