Issues with Pretranslate

It seems I am discovering new issues with SDL Studio after all of those years!

Scenario:

I have a sentence in my existing translation memory. It says

Landscape Architects 

and translated as 

معماريو المناظر الطبيعية

It was not ideally translated in the TM as should be. In the new project, it came in All Caps, LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTS, so it was a good chance to put the proper translation. I confirmed the segment to update the TM, but it kept both versions due to Capitalization, which does not make sense to me, but can be understood still!

Now, after I was done with the project, the client sent me an updated IDML file, so I pretranslated it and gave it to my brother to DTP the file, and he noticed that LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTS was still pretranslated in the old way, even though it should indeed match the capitalization and what is newly entered in the TM!! Studio should match this with the proper capitalization and at least with the newly entered translation, but that never happened, and of course this can cause thousands of issues along the way in Arabic language.

The other thing is that for most large Tms that I use, they always show the orange triangle icond and I do upgrade them immediately, but to my surprise, the triangle keeps coming back evertime, and that causes a lot of time waste because those are indeed large Tms and do take time to upgrade and I really do not want to lose such time every time! Uprading should take place once and that would be it.

Sorry for my long message, but those are things that indeed should be taken into consideration.

    I can't reproduce this at all.  Here's what I did:

    1. Translated this source text:
      Landscaping
      Some text about landscaping.
      Landscape Architects
    2. I then open a file containing this text and translated it using the same TM. I capitalised the target translation:
      LANDSCAPING
      Some text about landscaping.
      LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTS
    3. I then created a new project and pre-translated both of these files against the same TM.

    The results were that both files were pre-translated as expected with different results for each file.

    I think you need to provide a simple example (no large files without any explanation please) that demonstrates this problem.  I also think you should check that you are really using the same TM in your real project.  Perhaps you used a project TM for the first files, didn't update the Main TM, then pre-translated against your Main TM that didn't contain the updates yet?

    Probably better to raise a separate thread for this so we don't confuse the issues or even lose one.
