This is the message when I try to open a Word file in Studio. This file is inside a package I received. I've checked the several topics on this forum about this kind of error but since I didn't create the package myself, the advice already posted is not really helpful.
I'm using Trados Studio 2019. The File Type Identifier reads "WordprocessingML v.2".
Can you help me here?

If you have received a package, why are you trying to open a Word file? In case of the package you have sdlxliff files for translation, which you open from the files view after having received the package in Studio. There will be NO Word or other files to open there.
Could you please tell us more about how do you try to open the file?

Thanks for your answer. What I meant is that the problem doesn't come when opening the project but when opening the file. I'm aware this is a sdlxliff file but the original file (which I don't have) is a Word file. I thought it could be useful to mention it.

Sorry, but I still do not understand what you are trying to do.
Have you received the package as usual and are trying to open a file IN Studio from the files view? Or what are you precisely doing? The error you mention will usually appear, when you try to convert the Word file to SDLXLIFF, but should never occur when opening the SDLXLIFF file.
Maybe you could give me a screenshot of your files view within the project?

Yes, it does occur with the sdlxliff file. I can open the Project but when I'm opening the file in Studio ("Open for translation"), this is when the error message pops up.
They just sent the sdlxliff file separately so that I could create a Project in Studio by myself but the same thing occurs.
I'm assuming there should have been a problem in the conversion from the Word file to sdlxliff file. What do you think?

Try taking the original package- copy it - save and rename it.
Now change the extension from .sdlxliff to .zip.
Unzip the package and now try to open the sdlxliff as a single file translation.
If you have a problem at this stage, this would suggest there is a problem with the file itself.
