I can't replicate this, same Studio version (CU5). If the selected tag is a tag pair, the selected text is enclosed. Could you send a screenshot from after you selected the tag pair but before you press Enter?

Resetting shortcuts changes nothing.

Please make sure, that the option for grouping tags is selected.

If still no joy, then the problem is really on your PC - new software, changed user profile, corrupted Studio file settings or bad weather, who knows...

Hi Spiros, the problem is that those are not paired tags, but rather placeholder tags, which are placed individually, so it makes sense that they would replace your selection. Notice the square (rectangular) shape of the tags, instead of the pointy, triangular shape of paired tags. Simply place these tags individually before and after your translated text.

Shouldn't opening and closing tags be paired by default? What makes them such? Is it a matter of preprocessing?

It depends on your source file. For example, tags in Memsource files always show like this when the file is imported into Studio, never as paired tags.

I think Nora is right. Those tags are not a pair tag, but just different tags. You can confirm that if you go View ribbon and select this tag view:

Then if you see a tag pair with the same number, my guess is wrong. But if the tags have different numbers, they have been processed in this way and there is nothing you can do about.
