The source file is a completed Word template that had fields that were filled in. When I open the target file in Word, the following popup displays "This document contains fields that may refer to other files. Do you want to update the fields in this document? I have the choice of yes or no. Regardless of which option I pick, the source language appears. How do I get it to generate the target language?

Maybe try opening the document outside of Studio and then resaving it (with a slightly different name) then try creating a new project,

Your method may work but I already found a solution on the community forum. I opened the source file in Word and saved it as a .doc extension instead of a .docx extension. I imported that file back into Studio with a slight name change. It immediately translated the file again. Where I had merged source segments, I had to merge them again for the target translation to populate. The file exported properly.
