I just ran a quick test and it does seem to work:

So, I have a few questions:

1. what language pair from Studio?
2. you presumably made sure you had matching languages in Workbench?
3. what version of TMX did you attempt to import?

2) Workbench has en-us, es-internationl, WB does not have Latin American Spanish. Shall I change languages in Studio to match this pair?

I would change the language codes in the TMX you exported.

How do I know which is the language code in WB? I noted it is Spanish International, but do not know the code for this.

And then, on the tmx, directly I need to do a sear and replace?

I got it, it is es-us.

However, now I found another issue, the tmx is too large to be opened withWordPad nor Note... any suggestion?

I just did a quick test and created an en-US to Spanish International Sort and the language code seems to be es-EM:

Are you sure about es-US?

On the TMX... you need a better text editor.  Try Notepad++ from here:

It's free and a lot better than using Wordpad or Notepad, both of which can easily make a mess of your files.

Paul, me again. I created a new TM on Trados Studio 2019 with the lang combination English United State (en-US) and Spanish International (es-EM), same lang combinantion as Workbench. However, when I exported the TMX from Studio, the xml lang comb shows this:

<tuv xml:lang="es-x-int-SDL">
<seg>Realizar análisis genéticos (se pueden hacer en la selección o en la visita del día 1 del ciclo 1).</seg>
</tuv>

Then, I opened the xml and changed the Spanish lang code to ES-EM. Workbench indicated two errors (about some missing ending tags which I do not know how to find in the xml...) and continue loading TUs, but did not indicate whether TUs have been added and updated. Is there any way for me to be certain that this TMX has in effect been imported.

Yes. Go to File -> Properties in Workbench:

Try dragging the XML into the Firefox web browser.  That does a good job of reporting on invalid XML.  Or maybe drop it into here:
