Usage of machine translation and voice recognition technology?

Hi all,

I have a question related to the use of machine translation in your CAT tools today.  Since we have seen some fairly extensive improvements in the quality of machine translation in the last year or so in particular, has this changed the way you use machine translation?

I also have another question.  Do you use voice recognition technology for your translation work by dictating and if you do why?

And lastly... if you use voice recognition technology because it's faster have the improvements in machine translation changed your habits?

If you have anything else you'd like to add on this topic please add it in the comments below... I'll welcome the discussion.

  • I use voice recognition for two purposes: 1. it is much faster and 2. it improves my style. I believe that nobody would talk in clumsy phrases like those sometimes produced by written translations.

And yes, MT improved greatly (it is the first time we definitely could talk about a translation, but it still produces nonsense here and there, so very sound proofing is a must. An MT translated text needs more time for review (at higher rates if charged per word :).

It would be great to find in future releases of Studio Voice Recognition specific QA algorithms (searching for similar sounding words or word combinations).
