Is it possible to change the segmentation rule of an existing TM?

Hi all,

I am creating file-based TMs following this post: https://community.sdl.com/product-groups/translationproductivity/f/studio/9825/creating-a-brand-new-tm-from-an-original-source-document-and-a-translated-target-document-without-involving-align?ReplySortBy=CreatedDate&ReplySortOrder=Ascending

But the TMs created by this way are segmented by paragraphs. Is there any way to change the rule to segmentation by sentence? I tried the TM setting - Edit Segmentation Rules (Trados 2015), but in vain.

Thanks!

Yes, the segmentation occurs at the point of creation of an sdlxliff. It is the sdlxliff that will be segmented according to the rules set in the TM.

If you want to work on segmenting an existing TM, if you export it to TMX, you can use this filetype definition app to work on it in Studio 2015:

    File type definition for TMX

Click on the Download button then select version 1.2.2.0 from the dropdown menu.

Instructions from the above page: Use this app to open TMX files as translatable files in Studio 2017/2015/2014 so you can start working immediately, without having to upgrade them or import them as an SDLTM. This app is especially useful if you are working with people using Across technology. You can easily handle a TMX file generated in the Across tool, and then create a fully translated TMX to send back when you are finished. This app works best with reasonably sized TMX files. Once installed, you will find that 'Translation Memory eXchange' will now be listed under File Types in the project settings of SDL Trados Studio. If you install the filetype and then don’t see it in your list, or you think the installation was too fast and it didn’t seem to do anything, then please go to Options -> Filetypes and then look on the right. It probably says "additional filetypes exist". Click that, select the missing filetype you installed and you'll be good to go.

    I hope this helps!

    All the best,
