"Input string was not in a correct format" when importing bilingual Excel file

I'm trying to import a bilingual Excel file and this appears:

Error message in Trados Studio Task Results window showing 'Input string was not in a correct format.'

Here you can see my file types are in the right order:

Trados Studio Project Settings window with a warning 'Additional unvalidated file types exist.' and a list of file types below.

Is there a problem with the file itself? I tried renaming it, resaving it, assigning a "text" cell format to the English and French columns...

  • There may be something in the file, or the path to the file, that Studio doesn't like.  There are additional details that might have pointed towards something:

Trados Studio Task Results window showing an error message 'Invalid string table id: a context keyword.' with a red arrow pointing to the 'More details' link.

Can you share the file?  Maybe remove all the content apart from the header row and a small amount of sample text, see if that is also a problem and if it is share the file.

  • I ended up opening a new Excel file and pasting the English column and creating an empty French column as well. Now it works. It must have been the original file that had a problem... Thank you!
