All your tagged symbols in the source seem to be placeholders (as opposed to opening and closing tags), so the best approach would have been to search replace the tags with a specific format in Word.  For example, make all these symbols hidden text in Word.  Then Studio would automatically convert them to tags when you aligned the files.  So it's about preparation of the source files.

If you don't want to do this again an alternative would be to open the alignment file, assuming you still have it, and save it as an sdlxliff.  Then use the SDL Data Protection Suite to convert all the symbols to proper tags and then import the sdlxliff to your TM.  You can find this app here:

Try resetting.  Rename this folder (just add _old to the end or something, it's not important what you rename it to) and restart Studio:

c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\15.0.0.0

So the path would become this:

c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\15.0.0.0_old

If you can't find this folder then you need to unhide your hidden files/folders:

Can you also make sure that you are using the latest version of Studio please?

When you renamed the folder they are reset.  I suggest you follow through with the setup and see whether everything is working now.  If you're missing something tell me what it is... you can always put back what you had because we only renamed the folder and did not delete it.  However, the fact Studio would not start suggests there was a problem there and the installation of the plugin just highlighted it.

I'd recommend you upgrade.  If you don't have the little orange bell active with the notification showing in the top right-hand corner of Studio you can download and install manually from here:

Thank you Paul. The approach with SDL Data Protection Suite appeared unsuitable in my case, because it didn't convert <> symbols into &lt; and &gt;. However, the solution with making these symbols hidden text in files before alignment was fit for this purpose.
