Need a explanation about the anlaysis report (Chinese>English)

Take the analysis report below, for example, the Chinese character number is 420580, the percentage of new is 37.89%. But 420580x0.3789 = 159357, not 72617.

Is there any reason here?

Thank you!

Screenshot of Trados Studio analysis report showing discrepancy in Chinese character count and percentage of new text. Total characters 420580, with 37.89% new, but calculated new characters show 72617 instead of 159357.

    Hi Linus,

The problem is quite simple ;) The values in the Percent column are being calculated based on the Words, not Characters,

If you do like this: (total words) 142757 x 0.3789 you'll get 54084 words.

The percents calculated on Characters will be obviously different than calculated on words - that's normal.

Most of the translators, MLV and LSPs are choosing - f.e. for the offers - source words or characters with spaces but trados won't report characters with spaces so I'd recommend treating the column Characters just as a reference. If possible, check the characters with spaces in f.e. MS Word.

    Best Regards,
