confirm multiple segments bug

This is a bug I've noticed since Studio 2009.

If you select multiple segments by dragging the mouse down (say, from segment 32 down to 39) and then press Ctrl+Enter, it confirms all the segments from 32 to 39. However, if you do the same operation by dragging the mouse UP (say, from segment 55 up to 49) and then press Ctrl+Enter, it confirms *all the segments in the file*. This can be quite vexing when you have just started a new file with 5000 segments and suddenly they are all confirmed.

  • Thank you for reporting this. It possibly solves a mystery of all segments becoming confirmed for some inexplicable reason. I can't reproduce this completely because when I do this only the segments below by selection are confirmed, but it's still quite useful to know.

I don't think it's a bug for the same reason as you however since this idea of selecting across multiple segments and confirming isn't a supported feature in the first place.  But given it seems to work one way and not the other we should look at this and either remove this capability completely or ensure it works in a consistent way.

The intended mechanism for this is to select multiple segments by using the ctrl or shift key and selecting the segment numbers.  Then right-click and set the desired status. In the end you run a batch task to update your TM.  This is long winded however so I completely get the usecase here.

But really pleased to learn about this problem!  Thanks.

  • Oh, I would like to add my voice to the request to fix this - it's caught me out quite frequently and it is a pain to set to rights!
