The Trados cloud platform will be undergoing maintenance on Saturday, 9th May 2026 between 05:00 to 17:00 UTC. During this time, you will not be able to log in to the Trados platform.

In the initial setup of the Freelance Edition, I forgot to select Japanese as my language of choice.

I forgot to select Japanese as my language and cannot select it in the translation. What should I do?

  • Hi Steven,

    Does this work?

    'Reset' the application.
    1. Close Studio.
    2. Make sure you are logged in with administrative rights.
    3. Click on the Windows START button (at the very left bottom of your monitor) and type "shell:appdata" (without the quotes) followed by Enter.
    4. An explorer windows opens showing the folder "C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming".
    5. Navigate to the subfolder SDL, then to "SDL Trados Studio", then to 15.0.0.0 (for studio 2019). You should now be at "C:\Users\>user name>\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\15.0.0.0".
    6. Rename the 3 files (BaseSettings.xml, Plugincache.xml, UserSettings.xml) to .xm_.
    7. Restart Studio.
You will have to go through the three first welcome screens of Studio after this. Just click next twice and Finish once and Studio will start (accept the default settings).
