Hi,
I set my general settings to a certain date substitution format, which is not the default format for Studio, but is what I want. Despite having done that, I still get the project settings back in default in disregard of the general settings. see screenshots. How do I make Studio retain and use my general settings in projects?

What do you mean? these settings both refer to the same language pair. I use the wizard for my projects and this is what happens.
the language pair has nothing to do with this. If you are using a project template that is not the default, or even basing your project on a previous project, when creating your project via the wizard then you might not be using the settings you think you are.
clearly something is amiss so why not share a screenshot of the completed first page of the wizard... that would help as we might spot something you’ve missed?

Ok, got you. I have to change each auto substitution setting in each template separately through setup>project templates. Done. Solved.
