Sample files in Trados Studio 2014

Hi,

After upgrading from Trados Studio 2011 to 2014, I tried working with the sample files but at some point I started receiving an error message saying that the file cannot be opened as it contains languages that are not configured for this installation.” The languages I selected at installation are EN-US, EN-UK, EN-CA, FR-FR and FR-CA so I don’t see why there would be a conflict with translating the sample files from EN-US to FR-FR.

Is there a way to reinstall the sample files from scratch so I can start over in case I messed them up by mistake when I first started working with them?

Or is there another way to make the error message disappear so I can work with the sample files?

Any help or suggestion would be most appreciated.

  • Hi Michele,

You don't need to select all the different flavours of a language.  So you could have just chosen EN and FR, any flavour, and you'd have them all available to you.  This would mean you still had two choices left.

The reason for the error is because the sample packages and TMs contain languages in more than just FR and EN, so without having them added you are getting this error message.

So reinstall, and this time pick EN, FR, DE, JP and one other.  The four I mentioned are in the sample files so if you have these language installed you should not have any problems with teaching material in the samples.
