How do I ensure that notes are included when I'm translating a Powerpoint file?

I've looked at the suggested solutions in this forum which basically amount to ticking the Notes box in the Project Settings and File Options. I've tried this and it doesn't work for me. I'm confused about when I should be selecting these options. For instance, at what point in the project creation wizard can I select these options?

In my work, notes should always be included in a translation, so what I really need are step-by-step instructions on how to set this as the default behaviour for Trados for all projects.  Can anyone help me with that?
