Target language not set (auto-detect and cannot edit manually) and object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Question

Hi, whenever I tried to translate or review a single xliff file, target language is displayed <not set>. Then 'object reference not set to an instance of an object' message box appeared I cannot confirm the segments after edits, have to leave in draft state. These two happen together. It happened after update to SR2 CU7 2849. Earlier was okay. Target language is Burmese and tool version is 2019. Thanks.

Hi Paul, the problem is okay now. The root cause, in this case, is different language code. 2021 and 2019 version detect only one language code for my target language which is 'my-MM'. The file I received came with the code 'my' only. So I edited the language code by opening the xliff file with Note++ and the problem is gone. It is the reason why target language cannot be auto-detected. Thanks for your reply.

 You just need to set a target language under File -> Options -> Editor -> Languages . If this is left blank then you don't have a default. So you don't want this:

Trados Studio > 1. Trados Studio
