I haven't seen this error before so you should probably try a reset as this cures many ills when you don't know what caused it.  

Rename this folder (just add _old to the end or something, it's not important what you rename it to) and restart Studio:

c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\14.0.0.0

So the path would become this:

c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\14.0.0.0_old

If you can't find this folder then you need to unhide your hidden files/folders:

www.howtogeek.com/.../

Thanks, Paul! Before you wrote, I tried reinstalling it, and it's even worse now, at least visually: apparently, everything is processed fine until the very last (and crucial) moment, when I just get an unresponsive window that doesn't even have a proper icon. If I try to re-run it, it just duplicates to the same effect

A reset is not the same as a reinstall.  Reinstalling will not change the folders I asked you to reset.  Please give that a try and it may solve your problem.

Paul, I tried the trick you suggested, and it worked perfectly. THANK YOU. Big time. You saved a lot of my time and bile, and not for the first time. I owe you one, or even two ;) If you ever need something, I'm there.

If a restart of your computer doesn't fix that maybe log a case so a support engineer can look at that for you next week?

You have two options:

1. Submit a case using a webform
2. Use live chat to get a licence reset

You want to use the first option and make sure that you refer to this thread so the teams can see what you have tried already to fix it.

Restart brought the icon back.
