Source and target language identical

Question

Hi, 
 I have Trados Studio 2014 (starter) and just uploaded my first test document to get acquainted with the software (via: translate single document). I translate from English to German and so I uploaded an English text. As soon as the text showed up in the editor, both the source and target language side were filled with the English text. From the video tutorials I expected the right (target language) side to be empty so that I can start translating it. What went wrong? 
 Note: I created a new TM and the settings are: Enabled: check, Lookup: check, Penalty: 0, Concordance: check, Update: check. Also: "Language Pairs using different translation providers". This is under: All Language Pairs. 
 The settings under: English => German TM seem to have no settings.

Hi Aneta, 
 There are two checkboxes I can think of that might be responsible. They are under Options -> Editor , and Options -> Editor -> Automation (see screenshots). Not sure what the default setting is for those; I always have them unchecked.

Hi Aneta, 
 This can depend on the source file you are opening and also on some other settings that Stephan probably referred to. So for example, if the file was a TTX or a Bilingual DOC then it's quite likely the target will be pre-segmented with a copy of the source filled in. 
 The other settings are not checked by default, but it would be these. This one will copy source to target when you open a file for translation in the single document process:

 But as both of these are unchecked by default my guess is it's the file you are opening. What file are you translating and did you use a single document process or did you create a Project with the Project wizard?
