Do you know where it's coming from in InDesign?  What does the column on the right in Studio say (you cut it off in the image)?  That might give yo some indication if you're lucky.

Hi Paul, Thanks very much for taking a look at it. It's a shame there isn't a filter in Studio that can filter out hidden text from these files, perhaps it's asking too much :) Unfortunately my customer can't help me and apparently I'm the only one of an Armada of translators that has this problem - looks like I'll just have to work around it. The text you see seems to be on the master page, just turn it off:

You can turn off hidden layers, but you can't turn off text that is somewhere on the pasteboard but off the page. The author of the document has to clean that up.

Hi Daniel, thanks for taking the time to reply to me. I've had a look at the project settings and this box is checked. If I switch it off it doesn't seem to have any effect on the files I've already imported. How can I switch this off before importing the files?

If I switch this option off in the project settings when I import the files, it switches itself on again - is there any central place I can switch it off?

You need to do this in the template you are using.  File -> Setup -> Project Templates

Wow thank you guys, you have no idea how many hours I've sweated over this :D I had to do a whole job of over 1000 lines last time trying to find the actual text amongst all the dummy text and it was agony ...  Now I have clean, tidy source text!!!!! Allelujah!!!!!!! Bow to your expertise XXXX

Best would be to try whether it has the desired effect. Check/uncheck boxes as wou think is promising and then click the "preview" button in project settings.

Later, you would have to add the files to your project again, but the TM would fill in the content you already translated.
