Verification check includes excluded segments

Hello

When I carry out a verification check in Studio 2019, under Segements to exclude in QA Checker 3.0, I often need to select Exclude Perfect Match segments and Exclude exact matches. However, despite selecting them, the Checker still includes all segments in verification. This presents me with a problem as I often need to translate a minimum amount, say 100 to 500 words in a document which contains between 13,000 and 20,000 words, for instance. I'm not interested in the other segments as I am not paid for them. Is there any reason for this?

Thank you

  • Hi ,

I know that one Grinning because I just changed it a couple of weeks ago!

The symbol of área (as a surface measurement) is the single letter a. Again, Trados takes 81 a as 81 áreas, so it gets a bit confused (81 to in Source is not a unit) and notifies you accordingly…

As I had the very same issue as you, in order to get rid of this error for good, I removed the measurement a from list of Spanish measurements (in general, from the Target language).

Trados Studio Translation Memory Settings window showing Measurement Units tab with a list of units. The 'a' unit is highlighted with a red error icon indicating it has been removed.

If you remove the a measurement here, the next Verify operation will be fine.

I did it for myself and so far so good. Nowadays we don't often measure surfaces using areas, de we?

By the same token, I removed also the capital A (Amperes) from all TMs that won`t ever mention this electrical unit.
