If you use search and replace (error does not occur with simple search) and have regular expression selected in drop down but the option "use during search" is not ticked (thus the selection of the dropdown menu should be ignored as it is greyed out) and add a question mark '?' only to 'search for', Studio 2021 rants that the regular expression contains an error and cannot be used.
If you tick 'use during search' and select 'Placeholder' from drop down and then untick 'use during search' everything is fine.
Thus Studio 2021 seems to have an if condition missing for search and replace, the error cannot be reproduced for search only.
instead of checking whether the option of placeholder or regex is ticked before running a check against regex (if optionticked then > if regexselected then) it seems to simply do (if regexselected then) So there must be a further refining of the if statement.
Studio 2021 should not check whether a search term contains an error against regex if the option is not ticked, even if 'Regular expression' is selected and greyed out.
