It takes quite a long time to switch between projects (projects pane) and files from different projects (editor pane). How can I select all the projects and mark them as complete, and would that help to speed up things as most of my projects are marked as in progress.

However, that would be suitable for just one project at a time. I was hoping for a solution to select more (or all projects) to change their status.
Doing them one by one is very time consuming :(
If your projects are complete then why not simply remove them from the view altogether? You can easily add them back if you need them later.
To do that right-click and select "Remove from list". You can select multiple projects and do this in one go.
