Can you tell us more about what happens? Any messages at all? What version of the DeepL plugin are you using?
The current version of the plugin has some problems that DeepL are investigating at the moment because it seems to be linked to the API key. But this causes an error which you have not mentioned. So we need more information about your situation.

in an attempt to solve the problem, I re-installed the plug-in according to the instructions of DeepL. As a result, we cannot activate the plug-in any more. Now we get the message "There was a connection protocol error. Please check that you have entered the correct port number and other settings", and when looking at the details: error 407 Proxy Authentication requiered

ok. I have no idea when you downloaded this plugin so I can't simply assume you did this yesterday and therefore have the latest version, which as I have said already has some problems that DeepL are working on.
Please press your windows key, type in without the quotes "plugin management" and select the SDL Plugin Management app. Tell me what it says here:

according to our IT service, they are indeed whitelisted.
Are you using a VPN or some sort of proxy to connect? Can you try without it if you are?

We are indeed using a VPN, Paul. But when I disable it, I cannot work in SDL Trados, because this also cancels my access to the translation memories and license server
