How to generate a TM from bilingial SDLXLIFF

Unfortunately, I used my general TM for this süecific translation but now I learnt to my regret that I would need the parts translated for this order separately. I did not create a project but just translated that file. Yes, I know I should have created a TM and a project. Anybody of you guys with a recipe? There is the German SDLXLIFF and the SDLXLIFF file - how to "marry" them?

    What do you mean by this?  If you mean the German one is the one in your German (target language) project folder and the "SDLXLIFF file" is in the source language language folder then you only need the German one because it is already translated and contains the source and target "married" within the file.  It's not like Star for example that uses separate files for each language (maybe that's where you're coming from?).

    So all you need to do is one of these things:

    - add your TM to your existing project and update it with a batch task

    - import your German SDLXLIFF into your TM

    Both of these actions will put the content into whichever TM you like and then you can create a new project with this TM and as many files as you like.

    Does this help?  I feel as though I'm guessing at what your problem really is.

    Hi Paul, tks for responding quickly. The TM I used for this translation is meant for any translation in the general mechanics field in cases where I do not want to create a specific one, i.e. when it does not pay in my eyes to create one for a specific order. This general field TM has a lot of terms that are not directly associated with the text I have to translate but there are quite some terms that I could use later on with another translation. I need the order-specific TM to calculate my rate and time horizon (self created Excel program) to make an offer. If I would use the general TM, die report might include texts that are not concerning the translation to be made. So it was my fault not to create an individual TM for this order now that I need to calcuate to get the order.
