How to look up a word from the source text in the termbase

I'm trying to figure out how to look up a term from the source text in the termbase. I know we already have term recognition, but here I have some words that might be part of a much longer term. To make this clearer, my source text says:

"Decreto Ley" (literally "Decree Law")

Although this is not picked up by Term Recognition, this may well be contained in longer termbase entries, as the termbase I'm using often has names of exact laws, such as "Decree Law No. 1234 on the Use of Computer Assisted Translation in Government" (as you can tell, I'm making it up).

I've created a shortcut key for "Termbase Search", but it doesn't seem to do anything. Is that for something else? If so, what does it do, as it doesn't seem to do anything for me. Which item should I be selecting instead?

(An idea for future developers: would be helpful to have a "search" function on the shortcuts page so we can search for keywords (e.g. "term") when looking for shortcuts.)

  • In the list of shortcuts (In File-Options), there's an item called "Termbase Search". What does that do? It doesn't seem to do anything.

I know how to use the Termbase Search box manually, but I assumed there's be a way to select text in the source text and perform a search on the selected text. It's possible in DVX and MemoQ, so I assumed it was in Studio too. Is it not possible?

In any case, I'm not sure how reliable this kind of search is. My termbase has inconsistent translations for the word "Acuicultura", so I wanted to see all items with that word. I searched for the word, but it only finds the item with just the word "acuicultura". It doesn't give results for some of the other items that I know are in the termbase, namely:

    • Subsecretaría de Pesca y Acuicultura
    • Servicio Nacional de Pesca y Acuicultura

I don't understand why "Acuicultura" doesn't find the above entries, but "Decreto Ley" does work for the example in your screenshot.

  • I have tried to associate a shortcut to Termbase search. It simply activates the window Termbase search, then you have to put the word in the search box manually. I agree that it may be useful to select source text and launch a search in the termbase.
