Does the package contain TMs? Matches only appear if there is (at least) one translation memory.

Hi Ana, thank you so much for responding. No, it seems not to have TMs. DO I have to contact the client and ask them to send me the file again with a TM?

Ok, thanks so much, Just one last question though (sorry :-/)I have completed one of the 4 files. Should I send then back than to teh client that she can include it in the new package with TMs?

No need. You can create your own TM, populate it with what you have translated so far and then use it for future translations.

Try this:

1. Open your translated file, go to Project Settings - All Language Pairs - Translation Memory and Automated Translation and create a translation memory, making sure that you store the file in a path that is easy for you to find later.

2. Go to the Home tab, then Batch Tasks  and select the one called Update Main Translation Memories. This will save all your translated segments to your newly created translation memory.

3. After this, when translating new documents, make sure to add your translation memory under Project Settings - All Language Pairs - Translation Memory and Automated Translation - Use.

As long as you have added your translation memory to your project and the Update checkbox is checked, every new segment that you translate and confirm will be added to the translation memory and will be available to you for matching future segments.

The create TM controls are all deactivated :-/

As I mentioned on my previous message, on the Editions comparison table you can see that the Starter license doesn´t support full batch task functionality.

Oh, that's right, I had missed that the version in question was a Starter license.

Starter version does not support termbases, so that's why you can't add terms.

Also, TMs are limited to 5,000 TUs, so maybe you have already reached that capacity. If you go to to the German-> English language pair, and then to Translation Memory and Automated Translation, I think you'll be able to see a TM with 5,000 TUs… If so, that'd explain why you can't add another TM.

The problems is that there are 4 documents, with many identical segments. But the software wont auto-propagate, only in the document I am working on. When I start in a new document, with 80% identical segments to the first one no auto-propagation takes place. Does that make sense? 

Have you got a TM in the location I mentioned?

The package has no TM, and I am unable to add one ( because i only have the starter version?). The window where you can add a TM is deactivated

This screen capture doesn't demonstrate that you don't have any TM.

Please check it also in German-> English branch > Translation Memory and Automated Translation

This is the correct one, it wont let me add a TM
