Upgrade TM - The specified path is invalid

Hi there,

we're 3 PMs connecting our Trados workstations to a central machine on which TMs and Glossaries are located.

The Upgrade TM function has always worked perfectly with all TMs but with newly created ones, I can't recall exactly since when, but it started showing us this message when trying to upgrade new TMs. No problems with old ones, which can still be upgraded smoothly even if they are exactly in the same location.

We can't move TMs locally as we need them to be there for being shared and backupped.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

Serena

  • Ciao Paul and thanks for your kind feedback.

Worth noting that this isn't really a supported way of working as these are file-based TMs and not server TMs.  So you do risk corruption unless you are taking care in the way you are working.

Well, yes, I know, but the sole server TM solution is groupshare which is quite expensive for the three of us.

By the way, what you mean by "unless you are taking care in the way you are working"? Trying not to use the samr TM concurrently?

Can you move them locally to upgrade them and the put them back?

We could, of course, but imagine repeating this operation each, let's say, second week for 50 TMs: a bit time consuming.

Anyhow, maybe we can put them on a machine on which also Trados is installed, so that 1 PM uses and maintains/upgrades the TMs locally and the other two use them in the local network. WHat do you think?
