My Trados 2021 simply does not recognize ppt files.

If I go to the filetype settings
and try Preview
I get this error message
Initially I thought it was a problem with my file, so I tried to create a ppt file in Powerpoint 2019 from scratch, just added a line to the first slide and saved, but the result is the same.
Are you intentionally using the file type for old versions of power point? You seem to be using the file type for PPT 97-2003. (Not clear from your screenshot which is actually selected.)

About "Not clear from your screenshot which is actually selected." is you enlarge the screenshot it is quite clear that I used the correct file type
I converted my source pptx file to ppt because I have completed my translation of a pptx file, successfully exported it from Trados, but unfortunately it does not open in Powerpoint (that always happens with the pptx files from a specific customer).
Which file type is used is only clear from this list AFAIK:
I could not quite see this in your screenshot, sorry if I missed it.

Right. My question was, is this the active file type? However, I tried myself, and I can confirm what you find and I get the same error message with the PPT 97-2003 file type. Maybe Paul Filkin knows more about this?
I tried the Open Documents conversion, and the preview does not work either, but the actual import does work (how much of the layout will be preserved I don't know).

Luckily I have solved the problem my my original PPTX file. I removed from the source PPTX several master slides which were not used in the actual slides and then everything was OK.
I confirm that the PPT file type was active in my project and the PPT file was not recognized (it was added to the project as a reference file)
You can convert to PPTX, OK, but the PPT file type should work.
I did think it might have something to do with where the file came from. So if it was really created in an older version it may work... but I wasn't sure. So I tested in 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2021 and it was fine in all but 2021. So on the basis of your tests and mine I'd say it's a filetype bug which we need to log with development.
