How to fix wrong character counting in Trados 2017 Professional?

Question

Hello, 
 please help: Trados counts the number of characters in a line in a wrong way, the character limit in a string line in one of my projects is 30, one string consists of two lines (see the picture &ndash; below is the correct number of characters counted in Notepad++): 
 
 The QA message says the "Maximum length in line 1 has been exceeded", even if it has not, and vice versa. 
 
 Is there anything I can do about it?

 I would add to this that the only tool we have that does count the lines is the verification check in the subtitling app. The dev team would need to enhance the out of the box standard verification feature to make the same thing possible. I think it would be a good enhancement... perhaps you can suggest it here: http://ideas.sdl.com

Thanks Miriam ... I copied it pasted it in here instead. Far easier to see this way. 
 The verification check is not based on the line in the segment. It's counting the entire segment.
