Error message: Failed to load project....

Hi !

I am using SDL Trados 2019 SR2 and get an error message:

Failed to load project from C:\Suers\User\Documents\Folder name\folder name\File name.sdlproj

Error in the XML file (31343, 47)

Unexpected ending, Line 31343, position 47.

I have read some answers in the SDL community, however, I cannot open at all SDL Studio to delete the project in the Projects list.

Can someone help me please, as I have to submit my work and I am in despair.

Maria

  • It sounds as though your sdlproj may have become corrupted for some reason.  The good news is that your translations are in the sdlxliff files and not the sdlproj.  So you could try a couple of things.

If you have finished the project already then do this:

    1. open the target language folder for your project
    2. open the sdlxliff file you find in there as a single file project
    3. save the target file

If you still need to work on this project you have a couple of options.

    1. open the target language folder for your project
    2. open the sdlxliff file you find in there as a single file project
    3. finish translating it
    4. save the target file

    Or...

    1. create a new Studio project with the original source files
    2. copy the sdlxliff files from the original target language folder over the top of the ones that have been created in your new project
    3. open the new project and carry on working... you should see exactly the same content that you had when you last opened the original project

  • Thank you very much Paul.

I am still working on the project which has 150+ files, therefore, I will go with your "Or..." suggestion.

  • Hi I have the same problem, but cannot even open the sdlxliff file to work on it as a single file project as I get the same error message and nothing opens. Please help. Thank you.

  • I suggest you create a new thread, and if possible share the sdlxliff.  It sounds as though it might be corrupt in which case you might have to recreate the project from scratch.

  • Thank you so much for answering and so quickly, I did manage to find a workaround, not sure exactly how after 3 frustrating hours but involved renaming the project, opening the sdlxliff file as a single file project and creating a new TM. The important thing is that my previous work was still there.

Thanks again and have a great Sunday.
