Thank you, Daniel. My screen looks completely different from your screenshot. I wanted to enclose 2 of mine but first I have to find out how to do that. Anyway, on top of my column is a bell (for notifications) but no close icon.This is not a a basic problem but it is unnerving.

My screen looks like yours I think, I just did not include the bell and the user name in the screenshot. If you mouse over the little tabs, the windows pop out, and you can close them by clicking on the X. The windows manager Studio uses takes a bit to get used to, but it's actually very powerful. The screenshot in that link looks very much like mine, but it is without my two columns on the right-hand side which I don't need anyway. My immediate problem is that I don't know how to insert screenshots here, and I didn't find any instructions. I'm sure it is is simple, but how??

In addition to the very helpful video from Stepan Konev you can also simply copy/paste your images in.  So copy the screen to your clipboard and then simply paste into your forum reply.

You must think I'm an absolute beginner, although I started with Trados more than 20 years ago, and most of the time I have been learning by doing. Where do I find the clipboard for copying my screen? Please excuse this stupid question.

Thank you, Ali. I have these screenshots all ready for copying but when I want to insert them in my text here, the insert function is greyed out. That is to say: now it's not greyed out any more... Technology always has a mind of its own.

Now I will repeat my question: How can I rearrange my screen so that the 2 columns on the right are not shown (I never look at the document structure, and I don't need notifications, useful tips etc. ). I'm sure I would find instructions in the huge Manual but that would take very long.

Now another try with the screenshots, for illustration purposes. 

By the way, now I know what my mistake was. Of course, very stupid, but I will not go into the details. Thanks to all of you for your patience and the replies, and I also wish you a super Sunday.

Thank you so much! It was so simple, I just had to press the cross sign whenever "useful tips" or "notifications" or "filters" popped up. I gave up too soon. Really so simple, but why is there this column in the first place??
