Problem with Trados Studio Autosave and OneDrive

I have been using SDL Trados Studio for many years, and the autosave function has never given me any problems.

However, after installing Office 365 and the subsequent expansion of OneDrive, the files that were in

C:\users\My name\Documents\Studio 2019
All moved to
C:\users\My name\One drive\Documents\Studio 2019
without any known action or prompting on my part. This seemed to have occurred automatically and up to now I have not been able to reverse this change.

While using SDL Trados Studio 2017 and recently SDL Trados Studio 2019, the autosave function failed to work and the error message below appears when trying to save my work:

“Access to the path ‘C\Users\My name\ One drive\Documents\
Studio 2019\Autosave\9960e1b3-1114-471c-10a277af8c64’ is denied

An additional folder has been added to

One drive\Documents\Studio 2019\Autosave,

Namely 9960e1b3-1114-471c-10a277af8c64

It is not possible to delete or rename this folder. The only solution is to restart the computer.

Although it is possible to continue working after closing this message, trados studio suddenly crashes after a time and all changes since the previous save are lost.

I don't believe that Trados Studio is at fault here. The access denied issue arises from the spontaneous creation of the 9960e1b3-1114-471c-10a277af8c64 folder in OneDrive....Autosave (see above). As soon as this folder appears, Autosave no longer functions, and a restart of the computer is necessary.

I may have found another possible solution: simply deactivate OneDrive for as long as Studio is being used. I have been using Studio for several hours now wih OneDrive deactivated and so far (fingers crossed) I have had no issues with Autosave.

I have subsequently looked at the Microsoft file you recommended and it discusses the issue in a general sense, so thanks for that.

I will let you know of any developemnts!

    Thanks again
