When I click on a .sdlppx file I get the "How do you open this file" Windows dialog. Shouldn't it be associated with Studio by default?

When you have saved the PPX package to a folder of your choice, when you open Studio and then select Open Package

yes, is there some way to force Studio file associations somehow?
Yes, there is a way: Settings/Applications/Default applications/(at the very bottom of the page) Choose the default applications according to file type (translation from French).
But you will need the same patience and luck as myself, since MS Windows 10 seems to be confused between Studio 2019 and Studio 2021 and suggests either 2019 or 2021. It took me one week or two and some lucky manipulations to get all my *.sdlxxxx files associated with Studio 2021.
I was thinking of something like an app or a script that would do that on a batch mode, i.e.
