Studio 2017 won't start, no error message, no "lost window"

Question

For some reason today Studio 2017 just won't open. There's no error message, I get the loading screen as normal and then the icon appears in the taskbar but nothing appears if I hover over it, I'm not using a second monitor. Trying to move, minimise, restore etc. does nothing. Killing the task, restarting the laptop etc does nothing. If, once I've already tried to open it once and the icon is there I click to start it again to have two running simultaneously, then if I hover over the icon two minimised windows do appear, but they are both blank... Please assist

 If you can see the icons in the taskbar, this would suggest the program is opening off-screen or indeed 'minimised' which makes it very hard to see
