I have 8k TUs on a translation memory but term search comes up with TUs with numbers over 11k, how come?

I'm working with a translation memory that has 8851 TUs:

Translation memory properties showing 'Created By: Greg_OfficeGreg', 'Created At: 942015', and 'Translation Units: 8851'.

I opened the TM file in SDL Trados Studio 2021 and scrolled to the end of the last page

SDL Trados Studio pagination controls with 'Page: 9 out of 9' indicating the last page of the translation memory.

I shows the LAST record as numbered 9403. I could understand that some records might have been deleted, so the last record number is greater than the total number of records. OK.

Translation memory editor showing the last record with number 9403 and a timestamp.

BUT when I search for some term, the results come up with record numbers much larger than 9400:

Search result in translation memory editor displaying a record with number 11378, which is higher than the last record number 9403.

How come I have record number 11378 in this TM but when I scroll it to the very end, the very last record is number 9403 and the total number of records is only 8851?
