You can switch off the validation of SDLXLIFF in your project settings. This will most probably do no harm.

I was translating with the option ON, but switched it OFF to get rid of this error. And I was using single files while translating, no I open all of them as a multiple for the final review. The error show up when  opening the multiple as well as in a single file. 

Try switching the validation off.

There are many reasons for this error. You can open the sdlxliff in a decent text editor and go to the indicated position to find out, what is causing it.

Interestingly, the error message points out to the line number 685, which does not exist in this .sdlxliff file! The document ends at line number 683, as checked both in the PSPad and Kate text editors.

I still get the error message with all the verifications switched off in the "options -> verification" :-(

And yes, I have merged some segments and that includes merging in the source (with the "project settings -> setting -> project -> allow source editing", and "enable merging segments across paragraphs" both on. That could probably explain the difference between the number of lines mentioned in the error message and the actual number of lines in the sdlxliff file (as mentioned the difference earlier).

Has your problem been solved? I've encountered the same problem. All the parameters are identical:

 - segment merging

 - error message

 - cannot export the file to the target format - the original format is .doc

I' sorry Adam Balog I do not remember exactly, but I think I simply dropped the case. I don't think I got any solution. I generally switched to use .docx instead of .odt files. A good reason to do so are the Studio comments which are not exported from Studio while working with the odf file and saving the target files - check this and this (I know this does not help you anyhow).
