I had to use Studio 2019 when normally I use 2021. After opening Studio 2019 I was told there was an update. I ran that and now every time I doubleclick a package it opens by default in Studio 2019.
Why does it not ALWAYS and automatically open in the most recent version? And how can I ensure that this happens after installation of an upgrade in a lower version.

For as why this happens, the installer changes the file associations when it runs.
They could make the installer smarter by checking whether a new version is installed, but I don't think SDL has any plans for doing this.

I ran the installer for 2021 again. That solved it too. But a repair should probably do the trick too.
I guess it is a "feature" that allows SDL to control the number of languages one can choose. Hence, the settings file for two different version has to be the same. Otherwise, one could select more than the standard 5 languages SDL allows for a freelance version.
