Choosing a language after installation of Trados Studio

Hi

I installed Trados Studio on a brand new computer.

But I did not select the right language options.

I should have selected English US and English UK and Danish Denmark.

I did that on an older computer. Plus selected English World and I think it was called English Denmark because I was asked to select 5.

A deveoper asked me to make a very complicated change in the registry which I cannot go through on my new computer.

Is there any way I can choose the right languages AFTER installation without a complicated registry procedure please?

I uninstalled and reinstalled the program on my new computer but did not get and option for language setting.

Thank you

Susanne

  • First of all note that you do not need to select English US and English UK.  You just select any English yo like and you automatically get all 90+ variants of English.  So just pick five main languages, not their variants.

Sometimes running a repair installation will resolve this for you, but not always.  The registry fix is actually really simple and works.  Was it this?

How to reset Freelance languages for Studio 2017/2019 (you didn't tell us what version you're using).

    • Close Studio.
    • Hold down the windows key and press R. (or right click the start/windows button and select Run).
    • For Studio 2017 paste in this:
      reg delete HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\LDSRClient5 /f
    • Press ok.
    • Restart Studio.
    • For Studio 2019 paste in this:
      reg delete HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\LDSRClient15 /f

Not exactly complicated.  Read it carefully and you'll see how easy it is.  Essentially just this and hit ok.:

Windows Run dialog box with the command 'reg delete HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftLDSRClient15 f' entered in the Open field.
