I cannot get this error to go away.
Hello, I got the same problem a few minutes ago. I tried to change the name/delete the file c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\Studio16\LanguageCloudMachineTranslation.bin but it didn't work. 
Still, thank you Paul for your tipp. I hope this matter will be solved soon.

Can you share your Studio log files with me please? We're trying to determine the cause but it's hard without log files. Yo can send them to pfilkin@sdl.com
c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\Studio16\logs\
Just zip up all the log files in that folder and send them to me.

Thanks for your feedback, but it seems the problem was on GroupShare end after all... The fact that both issues appeared quite at the same time put me on the wrong track! Everything is justfine now - and the message No Internet connection disappeared!

The problem disappeared this morning here too, but I have just the Freelance version, so probably not related to GroupShare?

I have the freelance version too, but I work with GroupShare as a translator. I couldn't access my customer's TM anymore, but that was on GroupShare end... not due to the SR1 upgrade.
