language code sr-latn-cs unsupported

Dear all,

I am having issues with the language code sr-latn-cs (target language) which is not supported either by Trados 2021 nor Windows 10. I used to change the language code into sr-latn-rs before opening a file in Trados 2014, but with Trados 2021 this solution does not work. Trados 2021 opens the file in question with the following error>object reference not set to an instance of an object, while TMs cannot be imported due to > "the translation provider does not support this language pair" error. Is there a way to fix this problem?

I use SDL Trados Studio 2021 Freelance.

Thanks,

Bojana

  • I created a translation with this language pair:

Dropdown menus showing source language as Serbian (Latin, Serbia) and target language as Serbian (Latin, Montenegro).

The language codes used for these were:

    sr-Latn-RS

    sr-Latn-ME

The only Serbian languages supported seem to be these:

List of Serbian language options in Trados Studio with flags, including Cyrillic and Latin variations for Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, and Serbia.

sr-Latn-CS seems to be Serbian (Serbia and Montenegro (Former)) so I think you should probably be using sr-Latn-ME as shown above.  In case it helps... here's the codes for the languages listed in Studio:

    sr-Cyrl-BA
    sr-Cyrl-XK
    sr-Cyrl-ME
    sr-Cyrl-RS
    sr-Latn-BA
    sr-Latn-XK
    sr-Latn-ME
    sr-Latn-RS

  • Hi Bojana,

    I just posted question t

I used to change the language code into sr-latn-rs before opening a file in Trados 2014

In the above quote, did you refer to changing language id in the SDLXLIFF file only or something else?

What is the Studio version at the source? Does you client or "work-giver" ;-) has Trados 2014, could you perhaps tell me which version / build do they use?

As if you get a project package prepared with Serbian (former) as a target language, studio 2021 SR1 should just work normally.

If you provide a bit more info (which version/Build of operating system are you using and which build of Studio 2021 are you experiencing these issues), perhaps I could be of a better help.

    Regards,

    Simon
