Cannot load Google AutoSuggest plug-in

Hello,

I use Windows 7 and Studio 2014 SP2 and installed the Google AutoSuggest plug-in. When opening Studio, I have to confirm that I want to use the plug-in even though it is a third-party tool. Studio opens. Then when I open a project file to translate, I get the following error message:

Cannot load Third Party plug-in: mnlp.GoogleAutoSuggest.Provider, mnlp.GoogleAutoSuggest, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=69f752e6db3550ab : C:\ProgramData\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\11\Plugins\Unpacked\mnlp.GoogleAutoSuggest\mnlp.GoogleAutoSuggest.dll

When I click OK, the file closes.

Could you tell me what this is about? I use another Studio 2014 installation on Win 8 and do not have this problem there.

Thanks,
Petra

  • Hi Petra,

This is similar to a problem reported about my Studio plugin (I'm a developer of a different one, but not the AutoSuggest plugin).  I'm not aware of the specific reason for this, but the problem seems to have something to do with file conflicts.  Have you updated Studio recently or have you updated the plugin recently?

It may help to clear the plugin files from the folder you indicated (...\Unpacked).  One way to do that is: with Studio closed, navigate to the ...\Unpacked folder, and delete the folder for the plugin (in this case mnlp.GoogleAutoSuggest).  Then re-start Studio.  If that doesn't solve the problem, then you could try to uninstall/reinstall the plugin (again with Studio closed).

Not sure why you get the prompt for loading a third-party plugin, because as far as I know apps on OpenExchange would have been reviewed and digitally 'signed' by the SDL IT staff, and so no message should appear.  For example, my plugin does not  generate that message.  I thought that the 'signing' is mandatory for submitting an app to OpenExchange (but perhaps not).

In any event, it might be best to re-download the plugin from the OpenExchange site before re-installing as mentioned above and compare the checksums to make sure you are loading the authorized version (I just tried downloading it and the checksums matched).  It might also be worth contacting the developer of the particular plugin for more info on this.

  • Hi Patrick,

Thanks a lot for your answer. I deleted the folder and that did the trick. No more message about third-party plug-in either.

    Thanks,

    Petra
