Applying target formatting in Xliff 2.0

Hello all,

I've searched high and low but cannot seem to locate a simple answer to this, so apologise in advance if this information can be found elsewhere on the board.

While processing Xliff 2.0 files in Studio 21 SP1, we are unable to apply formatting to the target segment that does not already exist in the source (simple stuff, bold, italics, underline, etc.).

I see that the Xliff 1.2 filter seems to have made provision for this via Quickinsert tags.

How can this be achieved in Xliff 2.0, if at all?

Many thanks,

James

  • Hi Patrik,

Text would look something like this, where the text between ** ** would be in italics:

Basically, we would like to be able to apply certain formatting features to our target segments before they are ported back to the tool from which they are extracted.

Not sure about rare, but the cases would be limited in scope (i.e., just italics really).

The problem is that it appears there is no means of adding Quickinsert type tags to the file filter. I can see that were they to be created, however, a custom tag would need to be created for each style in the source document in the tool.

Thanks for any insight you can provide.

    James
