Thank you sooo very much for your screen print as its most helpful to put your concerns into context.

From your screen print I can see segment 1399 and that the auto-insert tag is grey. I also see looking at source side, there are not tag pairs as such example being formatting tags. I only see a placeholder tag at the start of the segment.

Feature as designed: I can confirm that its intention for auto-insert to only work on tag pairs.
<b> <\b> as an example.

As I dont see tag pairs, I would not expect it to work on segment 1399.
 
Could this be the reason why you feel auto-tag is a feature that is not always accessible to you?
Do you perhaps have another example were source text has tag pairs and yet the feature seems disabled?

Hi,

I experience the same thing as Sameh Elsharkawy, but with tag pairs. Anything I try, the “Auto-Insert Tags” remains greyed out. I’m on 2021 SR1.
