Using previously translated documents as base

Question

Hi everyone; 
 
 I am using SDL 2019, and I am quite new at it. 
 A client of mine gave me a document that was previously translated, and I would like to know if there is a way to easily use the recuring terms for a new translation I need to do for her. 
 To be more clear, I have a document to translate from English to French (quite technical) and I was able to get 2 documents one in English and the other, the French translation of it. 
 As terms are recurrent, I would like to know if there is a way to "teach" SDL their specific terms, using the English doc and its French translation...

Have you aligned the documents - then you can 1) add them to a TM (so that they appear in the concordance, and 2) open up the bilingual file go through them to add the terms to your termbase. Depending on whether or not you have the Professional version of SDL Studio you could also perform a Perfect Match.

 If you align the documents (which I would definitely do), you will come out with a translation memory. That is a database that holds whole sentences and phrases. Studio will display relevant sentences and phrases to you as you translate. To manage terminology, use the product MultiTerm, which comes along with Trados Studio (if you have Studio 2019, you also have MultiTerm, you don't have to make another purchase). 
 MultiTerm holds Termbases, which is a bit like a glossary. In project settings you tell Studio if you want to use a termbase. If you do, and Studio finds a term in the source text which is in the termbase, it will make a red line above it and show you translation and other information about the term in the Terminology view.
