Hi,
Whenever I start a new single-file project and get to the point where I'm invited to pick the language pair, Studio (2017) goes "Not responding" for several minutes (at least 5) before eventually continuing as normal.
I seem to remember seeing a solution to this somewhere, but not sure whether it was here or elsewhere. Anybody any ideas please?

I haven't seen this before.. but I'd try a reset first simply because this often cures all kinds of unknown and weird problems. You could use this app for the reset and this will also explain what you will lose by carrying out a reset before you do it:

If that doesn't do it then it may be worth checking your security software in case your anti-virus software is at work here. That can also cause quite strange behaviour.

Finally had time to try Freshstart. Ran it twice, first deleting folders without repairing, then repairing. No improvement.
However, it now looks as if the problem may be related to a specific translation memory.
When I posted this message, a particularly large TM was the default. After running Freshstart, there was of course no default, but when I started the process of translating a single document, all went well (specifying the document, selecting the languages) until I specified this very large TM as the one to use.
If I specified another TM of only 16 MB, all was well. Trouble is, that's the wrong TM for this job, and many others.
The large TM is 870 MB -- is this exceptionally large? Could the size be the cause of the problem? if there's a problem with the TM, is there some way of fixing it?
Be grateful for any further ideas!
